From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could help the group reach areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.
